Kilpatrick Hills are located in west central Scotland (UK) to the North of the River Clyde. They extend east from the Vale of Leven to Strathblane. Their highest points being Duncomb and Fynloch (each 1313 ft.).

Kilpatrick Hills are a part the Clyde Plateau Lavas which are about 340 million years old. Predominate here basaltic type of rocks - lavas, tuffs and agglomerates, produced by the denudation of the successive floes. They are intercalated in the Calciferous Sandstone series.

CONCLUSIONS
1. On the Kilpatrick Hills we can find:
ANALCIME
EDINGTONITE
HARMOTOME
HEULANDITE
LAUMONTITE
NATROLITE
STILBITE
THOMSONITE
2. Minerals are concentrate on the West part of Kilpatrick Hills (yellow circle on the first map).
3. They were found in basalts.

RESULTS OF MY RESEARCHES:

PART 1 - 25.07.08
Old Kilpatrick
My destination was the Loch Humphrey - just nice walk. But I had good luck on the beginning - found two old local quarries -
where was that famous unusual THOMSONITE with ANALCIME.

 

 

I've sent samples on RTG analyses to Poland, so will see it is really thomsonite...

Closer the Loch Humphrey was one place more where was possible to find something, but I've noticed only calcite - besides was a bit dangerous.


PART 2
Loch Humphrey Burn
First thing - I am not sure this place should be called like that - it is dam on the end of Cochno Road in Clydebank, Scotland. 
 

I was there 19.08.08 - and I've found famous red zeolites - STILBITE with HEULANDITE ! Most of pieces found were weathered - so the biggest crystals were up to 3 mm. Unfortunately storm was coming so I had to run away. Also I found quartz in migdal type of basalt. They are more micro type too - individual crystals up to 1.5 mm. From other minerals I have piece with crystals of ANALCIME with quartz.
